Today I want to talk about facebook voiceover grouops.
Some of these groups are worth all the time you spend in them. Others…not so much.
I know a few people who have removed themselves from all Facebook voiceover groups! They said they didn’t like all the complaining that was going on in the groups. People were complaining about not making enough money, lowballing, newbies..etc.
I know there are a lot of voiceover groups out there. I only post things on 3 of them. Voice Over Friends, Voice Over Pros and the Voice Over Pros of Central Ohio. I treat the information in these groups like the information I get in my Facebook news feed. I have a LOT of friends from all walks of life; conservative friends, liberal friends, comic book friends, cosplay friends, and (of course) voice actor friends. I’m not going to like what EVERYBODY has to say! I don’t read EVERY SINGLE POST that all my friends make. I find what I like…I read it…and then I move on. If I see something I DON’T like, I scroll past it. It’s as simple as that!
You have to treat what people post in the Facebook voiceover groups the same way. If you see people complaining…move on. Keep scrolling down until you find something you want to know more about. But whatever you do, don’t leave the group! If you leave the group you will never see any of the information. Good or bad.
The great thing about a voiceover group, the inforation in the group is mostly related to the voiceover business! It's not like weeding through your facebook news feed trying to scroll past a political or religious rant. It's ALL voiceover information!
There is some great information out there in these Facebook voiceover groups. Other voice actors posting videos, blogs, and information that YOU can use to further your voice over career.
You’ll never know it’s out there if you leave the groups.
