Well, here it is...June. Summer is offically here!
If you work from home like I do and you have kids, life can be a bit more challenging in the summer. For me...I'm lucky. When my grandmother passed away last year my mom moved in with us. So my mom watches my 2 kids as I do my voice work downstairs in my studio. It's been nice to have an extra hand around the house to help me.
However, in the past, it was a lot harder. Up until this summer I had to get up early in the morning before my wife and kids got up to do some work and once the kids were up I had to wait until my wife got home from work before I could go downstairs to work again. On occasion I would leave them upstairs unattended, but for the most part, I watched them from 8am to 5pm. After dinner I would be in my studio most of the night.
So here is my question to my fellow voice actors and my other friends who work from home. If you have kids, what do you do with your kids in the summer when YOU have to be working? Babysitter, grandparents or do you not work until late at night?
How do you work in the summer when your kids are home from school?
